2. Disposal of electrical appliances

Information on the disposal of electrical appliances

Information on electrical and electronic equipment

The following information is intended for private households that use electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please note these important instructions in the interest of environmentally sound disposal of old equipment and for your own safety.

1.
Information on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment

Owners of waste equipment must dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Old electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, does not belong in household waste. Rather, this waste equipment must be collected separately and disposed of, for example, via local collection and return systems.

Owners of waste equipment must also separate waste batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the waste equipment before handing it in at a collection point. The latter does not apply if the waste equipment is separated from other waste equipment in accordance with Section 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG as part of the optimization by the public waste disposal authorities for the purpose of preparing for the reuse of other waste equipment.

2.
Meaning of the symbol according to Appendix 3 of the ElektroG
https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/elektrog_2015/anlage_3.html

The symbol in accordance with Appendix 3 of the ElektroG enables owners to recognize old devices that are to be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheelie bin and is designed as follows:

3.
Data protection information

Some of the old devices to be disposed of contain sensitive personal data (e.g. on a PC or smartphone) that must not fall into the hands of third parties. We expressly point out that end users of old devices are responsible for ensuring that personal data on the old devices to be disposed of is deleted.

3. Disposal of used batteries

Information on the disposal of used batteries

The following information is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were delivered to them (end users):

1.
Taking back used batteries free of charge

Batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries so that they can be disposed of properly. You can hand over used batteries at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back waste batteries, whereby our take-back obligation is limited to waste batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our range. You can therefore either return waste batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge directly to our dispatch warehouse at the following address:

mofakult GmbH
Returns
Schmiedestrasse 12
66280 Sulzbach
Germany

2.
Meaning of the battery symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. For batteries that contain more than 0.0005 percent mercury, more than 0.002 percent cadmium or more than 0.004 percent lead, the chemical symbol for the pollutant used is located under the garbage can symbol – “Cd” stands for cadmium, “Pb” for lead, and “Hg” for mercury.

3.
Starter batteries

The following special conditions apply to the sale of starter batteries: In accordance with § 10 BattG, the seller is obliged to charge end users a deposit of €7.50 including VAT if the end user does not return a used starter battery to the seller at the time of purchase of the new starter battery. When you purchase a starter battery, you will receive a deposit voucher. When you return your old starter battery to a collection point set up by the public waste disposal authority, you must have the disposal confirmed by means of a stamp and signature. You can then send this confirmation to the seller, quoting your customer number, to have the deposit refunded. Alternatively, the customer can also hand over their old starter battery together with the deposit receipt to the seller for a refund of the deposit.
(Due to the dangerous goods regulation, it is not permitted to send the old battery to the seller.)
