Parts from Vertex
Low-wear Vertex pistons for 2-stroke engines are certainly among the best on the market. Innovative materials and manufacturing processes ensure maximum durability and above-average performance.
Innovative cast pistons and durable piston rings from Vertex
Above all, pistons for your moped must be precisely manufactured and extremely durable. The mechanical load and thermal stress that pistons in a 2-stroke engine have to withstand is extreme. Vertex pistons are definitely the absolute gold standard in the field of 2-stroke engines. The Italian piston manufacturer has been delighting moped enthusiasts for years with its high-performance and innovative special and standard pistons with innovative molybdenum coating. Vertex cast pistons withstand the high thermal and mechanical loads even in the high speed range, which is why the manufacturer's customised special pistons are often used in racing cylinders. Stable performance is guaranteed in every speed range with pistons from the Italian manufacturer Vertex, reason enough for us to offer you pistons, piston rings and masterpieces of Italian engineering in our range.
Molybdenum disulphide coating for optimum running properties
Vertex pistons for 2-stroke engines are usually made from an aluminium alloy using a gravity casting process. In contrast to forged pistons, cast pistons have a higher silicon content. This has the advantage that the thermal expansion at operating temperature is lower, meaning that Vertex standard and special pistons can be operated with lower tolerances. In addition, the higher silicon content improves the wear properties, while the innovative molybdenum disulphide coating further extends the service life of the pistons and also facilitates running-in after a piston change. The structure of the molybdenum coating is microporous. As a result, the coating absorbs lubricants very well. In addition, the temperature resistance of such a coating is around 300° C, ensuring excellent performance even under the highest loads. Hard chrome-plated piston rings are the ideal complement to Vertex pistons and ensure perfect running during the stroke thanks to their durability.
Highest quality for optimum performance since 1953
Vertex was founded in 1953 in Cadelbosco Sopra in Reggio Emilia, Italy, where the company is still based today. Initially, the workshop, which manufactured spare parts for agricultural machinery, was managed by the dean of the local vocational school and employed 8 people as a craft business. As early as 1963, however, machining lines were set up for the production of pistons. These were initially cast pistons for 2-stroke engines. This laid the foundation for the international success of the Italian speciality pistons, which are among the most popular products of their kind today. In 1972, Vertex entered into co-operations on an international level, thereby securing not only the know-how but also the technical support of other renowned piston manufacturers. As a result, the material quality and the manufacturing process could be significantly improved once again. Since a reorganisation in 1982, Vertex has concentrated on the manufacture of cast pistons for mopeds and garden equipment. From 1992, the company, which had previously worked exclusively as an original equipment manufacturer, also established itself on the aftermarket.
